Notice to Home School Families
Home school family art class will be on Mondays 1pm-2:30pm weekly. Beginning March 11, 2013. The class will last for 10 weeks. The class is going to be conducted in a way to allow for multiple age groups to participate at one time, thus making it easier on families with multiple children. We will sit in a youngest to oldest manner so at to not have too young next to too old. (It's a confidence thing.) Class will offer drawing, watercolor painting, oil pastels, colored pencil, pencil, soft pastels and more. The projects will be designed to satisfy both the younger and the older artists. Call me 309-385-4763 to sign up. or Email me at artisinstudio@gmail.com.
Home School Art Programs
Want to get in on the newest form of art education? Try the Integrated Arts Program at ArtIsIn Studio!
Home school art is something this instructor knows! Having home schooled my own children for 14 years, I understand the need to, on occasion, seek expertise in areas in which one is not proficient. Home school is not just an academic decision, it is a lifestyle.
Here is an art program that will exceed art programs offered in traditional school venues. Students will learn art theory, art concepts, art history, become familiar with known artists, and experience hands-on creation. Additionally students will be afforded small class sizes.
Back when I was teaching in a traditional school district my responsibilities include teaching expository art to K-2 students, and integrated art to junior high level students. I am familiar with the benchmarks which have been set forth by the local school districts as well as the state of Illinois. Furthermore, I believe those benchmarks to be accurate and appropriate for students in my studio. However, we don't stop there.......
Students will create individual projects, group projects and be included in on going community service projects. And, isn’t that what it’s all about? Doing for others, with others?
The hardest part of home school is the day your children graduate. I look forward to working with home school students as they are some of the best students in the world! I understand the investment you have in your children as parents and as teachers. I appreciate home school teachers because I know how dedicated you are to success of your children. I promise to share that same dedication in educating your children!
Enrichment classes are important and now there is an opportunity close by!

Home School Integrated Art Program (Grade: Elementary)
A list of children’s books, historical events, and certain science concepts will be provided that you can read and study at home, then come to class and create art work that will reinforce concepts learned in your home studies.
Clifford the Big Red Dog, Native American and American Indian culture, plant life cycles, and poetry are just a sampling of the art and literature integration workshops available. Perhaps, you have a suggestion.
Class will begin with a review of the subject. Then students will be taught art concepts, techniques and exposure to mediums. Students will then create a final project that would integrate both subject matter and art.
Each integration will run for three consecutive weeks. Spending 60 minutes each week. The final week will be used for the creation of a final project. It’s kind of like combining a book club with an art experience for your students.
Open to specific ages/grades or students displaying academic achievement that would qualify them for this class.
60 minutes | Weekly | 3 week rotations per subject. With a goal of 4 rotations per semester(12 total weeks)
Open to suggestion for subjects to integrate.
